The Unfinished Business: Pacman Vs. Marquez on March 16

World Boxing Council (WBC) superfeatherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez sounds every bit ready to go, and expects a war when he trades leathers with superstar Manny Pacquiao on March 15 at the Mandalay Bay.In an interview with James Blears of Boxingscene, Marquez revealed for the first time that during his 2004 encounter with Pacquiao, he did not get any southpaw sparring, but this time, his team has employed no less than three of them at his Romanza Gym.

While Marquez is drolling to beat Pacman enters in his crucial stage of training in preparation for his March 15 showdown with WBC superfeatherweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. In his column posted at Philboxing.com, Pacquiao stated that he has already entered the hardest phase of his training, and a little more work and he will be in the best form of his life.

Chuck Liddel vs Wanderlei Silva!

FORGET STRATEGY. Forget speed and agility. Nothing grabs the attention of fight fans like a good old-fashioned slugfest--especially when it’s brought to us by two great punchers who are each at the top of their profession and about to bang the living hell out of each other.

During UFC 61, UFC President Dana White called current PRIDE Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva (2001-present) to the octagon. The purpose? To officially announce that Silva will challenge current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell in a November 2006 title match, pending a successful title defense by Liddell at UFC 62 against Renato "Babalu" Sobral.

As far as I know, there’s no word from Sobral regarding the insinuation that the UFC big boys fully expect Liddell to still be the light heavyweight champion in November...

But the pending Liddell-Silva match is an unusual statement to say the least. For those of you new to the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) game, the UFC and PRIDE are two separate MMA leagues--the UFC is based primarily in the Americas; PRIDE is the Asia-based Mixed Martial Arts championship. For various reasons, the two usually don’t mix fighters.

accdg to Dirty: Ahhhh this fight…. was entertaining, the commentating was extremely biased. A fight that was six years in the making only had 3 rounds to be settled… hardly enough time. What stopped this fight from being a classic is the 3 round limit. I remember when Sakuraba got to fight Royce Gracie… it was unlimited time… the fight went on for OVER 1 HOUR!!! finally when the ref realized that Gracie wasn’t fighting to win but to survive it was stopped. If the fight had be stopped in 3 rounds it would have settled noting…. kind of like this fight, it really didn’t settle anything, just a win for Liddell which is what the UFC wanted. Too bad… specially seeing Liddell run away for the last half of the last round… too bad he was too chicken to try to finish it…. Rematch any one?

Jake O’Brien Won’t Back Down

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Jake O’Brien. Fresh off the biggest win of his young mixed martial arts career over Heath Herring in January of 2007, the Indiana
native had an unbeaten record, a victory over a perennial heavyweight contender, and was a couple of wins away from being in contention for the title.

He was also dealing with ‘stingers’, a nerve injury usually seen on the weekly injury reports in the NFL, and something he had been experiencing since his days wrestling for Purdue. But while he would usually work through the pain, which was then followed by numbness in his arms, eventually it got to be too much.

“The injury was something I always had, it just kept getting progressively worse to the point where every time I’d shoot in for a takedown I’d lose feeling down my right side and my right arm was completely useless,” said O’Brien. “Being stupid I would try to keep going on it – I’d just rest, let the feeling come back, and go again. That’s why it got as severe as it was. I just kept trying to push through it instead of taking time off. Finally it got too bad and I had to have the surgery.”

O’Brien was forced to withdraw from a UFC 72 bout in Ireland against Tom Murphy, and he then went in for a surgery which doctors told him would only improve his injury, not make it worse, but as with any medical procedure, the risk was there that he could possibly never fight again. Needless to say, he didn’t want to hear about that possibility, not at 22, and not with the world at his doorstep.

“In my mind I was gonna fight either way,” he said, but he went through the surgery, which was successful. He still had to wear a neck brace for a month and then rehab the injury though, and it wasn’t easy for him to sit on the sidelines while the UFC heavyweight division moved on without him. Smackdown, WWE, Raw: Are they for real?

Wrestling is the act of physical engagement between two unarmed persons, in which each wrestler strives to get an advantage over or control of their opponent. Physical techniques which embody the style of wrestling are clinching, holding, locking, and leverage. Avoiding techniques likely to lead to serious injury, wrestling has aspects of ritual fighting, but its basic principles are closely related to those of military hand-to-hand combat or self-defence systems. (wiki keyword: wrestling)

Wrestlings popularity has invaded our TV nowadays from WWE, Raw and smackdown, before you can only experience it during sports events such as Olympic and the likes. Professional wrestling or commercial wrestling like WWE or Raw had tainted the credibility of it since it leaves you asking if all of these are for real or just pure entertainment. So i leave you the question again are these WWE/Raw for real?
